INSS offering financial support to families affected by floods in Rio Grande do Sul
O Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social (INSS) has announced a measure to support families affected by the devastating floods in Rio Grande do Sul in May 2024. The initiative aims to help around 130,000 families living in municipalities that have declared a state of calamity. Beneficiaries can request the advance payment of their monthly allowance until March 31, 2025.
Benefits and eligibility
The advance payment program is aimed at recipients of the Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC), which is intended for the elderly and people with disabilities, or those with a monthly vital allowance due to age or disability. The advanced amount will be deducted in 36 fixed installments, without interest or monetary correction, moving around R$ 161 million in the local economy.
How to access the advance payment
The advance payment is available for BPC beneficiaries and those who receive monthly vital allowance. The values are already available for withdrawal at the financial institution where the beneficiary or their legal representative receives the benefit.
Important
It is essential to highlight that the advance payment must be requested by March 31, 2025.
